Embark on a truffle-lovers dream.
Delight in a morning of truffle-inspired Italian breakfast delights at The Trading Post, followed by a tour and a live scent hunt demonstration by the two truffle dogs at Te Puke Truffles.
How the day will run:
Start the day at 9 am at The Trading Post where you’ll receive a truffle-inspired breakfast.
This will consist of two sweet truffle dishes and one savoury. You will also be able to enjoy a tea or coffee of your choosing.
The breakfast experience will last for approx 1 hour 30 minutes to allow guests to speak with chef Simone Saglia about the truffle dishes, and he will be able to share his own experiences with truffles, growing up in Piemonte the region renowned for white truffles.
As the time approaches 10.30 am you’ll be encouraged to head to Te Puke Truffles.
There you’ll be welcomed by Maureen and Colin. They will share their story about growing and harvesting truffles, and you will learn the ins and outs of truffle farming.
Because it is outside of the true truffle harvest period, they will stage a truffle hunt at the truffiere where the dogs will demonstrate their work to find truffles.
Following this demonstration you’ll be able to sample some of Te Puke Truffles produce before the day ends.
